Job functions:
Under minimum supervision, operates coating equipment that applies coating onto optics. Primarily coats standard and some engineering coating designs on optical substrate with high yields. Performs support functions to keep the equipment and processing running effectively.

 

Education:

High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience with emphasis on math or science.

 

AA/AS degree preferred or vocational training in coatings, material properties and vacuum systems or physical science, mathematics or engineering.

 

Experience:

Minimum 3 years experience in optics coating or equivalent of directly related experience/education.

 

Demonstrates proficiency in vacuum systems and optical coatings.

 

Can use leak detector.

 

Special Abilities:

· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

· Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

· Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
