Job functions:
Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. Related technical or college level courses advantageous. Supervisory, lead training and/or college level management courses advantageous.
Experience: 15+ years of experience in Optical Fabrication processes of optical final cleaning, shaping, sawing, milling, edging, generating, beveling, inspecting, grinding, contacting, single spindle, CP, or High Speed polishing and interferometry.
Special Abilities: · Demonstrates expertise in at least 4 of the following part types; flats, large flats, radius parts, domes, aspheres, cylinders, prisms, or super polishing (<1A surface roughness). · Able to achieve 1/10 wave P.V. and 1 second arc wedge over 12” aperture. · Competent to use an Interferometer for Transmitted Wavefront Error and testing to interpret surface flatness, irregularity, power, and wedge to deliver superior product to quality control. · Setups, operates and maintains production process equipment incompliance with standard and non standard operating procedures. · Use hand tools such as micrometer for diameter of lens, depth gauge with bar for sag, drop gauge on fixture for wedge, drop gauge for center thickness, calipers for diameter of lens, dial comparator for curve of radii, interferometer for radius, vapor degreaser air gun. · Works with management/production engineers to evaluate and apply manufacturing processes to new product and to develop new manufacturing processes. · Ability to troubleshoot incapable processes, create cost efficient solutions, and train others in these new processes.
